What Every First-Time Parent Actually Needs (No BS Baby Registry Guide)

Baby essentials laid out on a soft blanket — a realistic baby registry guide

🤍 The Reason I Started This Website

A few months ago I found out my little brother was having a baby.

And I was beside myself.

Like… more excited than I've been for any baby (other than my own… obviously… I think that's required to say).

For a few reasons:

- My kids have NINE cousins on their dad's side… and ZERO on mine - My little brother is my hero (yes I'm older — no I don't care) - And he married an actual angel

🤍 And When I Say She's Good… I Mean It

Not just because she puts up with him (which is already impressive).

But because she is funny, smart, kind, and steady in a way that makes you feel safe.

Like… genuinely GOOD.

The kind of person you trust without questioning it.

The kind of person I would hand my own baby to and not think twice.

And if you're a mom, you know — that is not something we say lightly.

🤍 My Brother (Real Quick)

We've always been close.

But when our mom passed, that bond became something else entirely.

Like: built-in best friend for life. Always show up, no matter what. Nothing gets between us.

So watching him become a dad? I'm not okay. In the best way.

🤍 So Naturally… I Made a Registry List

Because that's what older sisters do.

We insert ourselves and pretend we know everything.

But honestly? This time I kind of do.

This started as a list for her… and somehow turned into this entire website.

So Haley — better late than never. This is your baby registry. From your older, wiser, slightly chaotic sister you got stuck with. 🤍

1. Bumbo Seat (You'll Use This More Than You Think)

👉 Shop on Amazon

These things are magic.

You can stick your baby down and suddenly they're sitting up like a tiny drunk adult who just discovered posture.

Hands-free moments = priceless.

2. Boppy Pillow (Your Back Will Thank You)

👉 Shop on Amazon

If you don't have one, you will regret it at 2am.

Feeding, holding, surviving — it helps with all of it.

3. Earth Mama Perineal Spray (Postpartum = No Joke)

👉 Shop on Amazon

No one prepares you for postpartum.

This helps.

Put it in your hospital bag. Trust me.

4. Sound Machines (Yes… Plural)

👉 Main one: Shop on Amazon

👉 Portable: Shop on Amazon

We got ours 9 years ago. Still using it. Still essential.

My son cannot sleep without his "night crickets."

Also: once you spend 2 hours getting a baby to sleep… you will do ANYTHING to keep them asleep.

5. Zip-Up Sleepers (Buttons Are a Trap)

👉 Shop on Amazon

Do not let the cute outfits fool you.

You want zippers.

Only zippers.

6. Momcozy Nursing Cover

👉 Shop on Amazon

Free the boob if you want.

But if you prefer privacy (or chaos control), this helps a lot — especially while figuring out latching and dealing with leaks.

7. Milk Collector (Because Your Body Feeds Imaginary Babies)

👉 Shop on Amazon

You feed on one side… and the other side just starts leaking for fun.

This catches it.

Because breast milk = precious.

8. Hands-Free Pumping Bra (Game Changer)

👉 Shop on Amazon

Stop holding pump bottles like a statue.

Use your hands again.

Text your friends. Scroll. Cry. Live your life.

9. Hands-Free Pump (The Pump Extraordinaire)

Oh how I wish I had this option when I was pumping.

This thing is the pump extraordinaire.

👉 Hands free 👉 Quiet 👉 Easy to clean

I am jealous of any mom who started with this and didn't have to sit for hours a day holding two pumps and a crying baby with 2 hands.

The math doesn't add up.

Get this hands-free pump. Your sanity will thank you.

10. Muslin Blankets (You Need More Than You Think)

👉 Shop on Amazon

Swaddle. Cover. Clean. Dry. Everything.

Also… I still use mine 9 years later. They survive everything.

11. Baby Carriers (Yes — You Need Two)

👉 Structured: Shop on Amazon

👉 Wrap: Shop on Amazon

Structured = support. Wrap = newborn magic.

Also: built-in snack station.

12. The "Please Put This On The Registry So I Don't Have To Buy It" Section

👉 Skin care: Shop on Amazon

👉 Wipes: Shop on Amazon

👉 Molly's Suds laundry detergent: Shop on Amazon

👉 Dr. Bronner's castile soap: Shop on Amazon

You use this stuff DAILY. Get the good versions. Have other people pay for it. 😌

13. The "Not a Co-Sleeper"

👉 Shop on Amazon

Not telling you what to do.

BUT if you want a safe little "not a bed" inside your bed while you're not sleeping… this is great.

🤍 What You Don't Need

Let's save you some money:

- Complicated outfits - Anything with 40 pieces - Things that look cute but don't function

---

🤍 Final Thoughts

You don't need everything.

You don't need perfection.

You just need things that actually help, support, and the ability to laugh when everything goes sideways.

🤍 Haley…

You're going to be the best mom.

And I cannot wait to watch you do it. 🤍

---

🤍 And To Every First-Time Parent Reading This

You don't need a perfect registry.

You need real recommendations, practical tools, and someone telling you the truth.

😂 Lauren Out

I will think of 100 more things later. But I have to go walk the dog… and the kids are about to get off the bus.

We're done here.
